04/14/2004: "Fallujah's recently deceased women and children."
Zeyad made a claim, since discredited, that
The body count in Fallujah till now is 518 Iraqis dead (160 of them women, and about 50 children) and 1250 badly injured. Doctors from Fallujah mentioned that a large number of the dead women and children were shot in the head and that they were saving the extracted bullets to prove that they were being targetted by Marines snipers in the city.
I say discredited, Tim Blair doesn't believe it; nor do most of Zeyad's commenters.
The significance of the number of dead women and children is in question. Is that a large number, given the total number of deaths? Are they women and children unsuccessfully used as human shields? Who killed them?
I would ask, the women and children of whom? Iraqis that are working with the coalition? Is this evidence of Islamofacists punishing their enemies? Is this why we are having so much trouble getting Iraqis to stand firm?
